Garage Sale Fundraiser- Day 1
Today, it finally stopped raining long enough for me to start my garage sale fundraiser! Garage sales are a lot more work than I realized, but it went fairly well. I was outside from 8:00 am until 1:00.
After cleaning out my own house and accepting donations from friends & family, I had a lot of great items for sale. I was able to raise exactly $250 today. I still have a lot of items left, so I will probably be holding two more sales during the next few weeks. If anyone is interested in donating, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much to everyone who donated items- I truly appreciate your time and effort!

Volunteering Abroad- Salvador, Brazil
On September 26, 2009, I am enrolled to volunteer in Salvador, Brazil for 8 weeks, where I will be working with underprivileged children. I have never done something like this before and I am so excited! I am traveling with a great non-profit organization called Cross Cultural Solutions. I will be living at a home with other volunteers, doing volunteer work for 4-5 hours each day, and exploring the city and culture during my free time.

This trip requires a LOT of work, so I have decided to blog not only about my experience after arriving, but also about my travel preparations and fundraising efforts throughout the summer.
