Today, after lots of research, I booked my flight! I will be departing JFK on Friday evening (Sept. 25) and arriving in Salvador at 11 am, after transferring flights in Sao Paolo.
Flights can be expensive, but the prices also fluctuate a lot. When I was looking at prices a few months ago, they were an average of about $1700, but by now they have gone down significantly. It is also important to shop around before booking. I signed up with a site called Fly For Good which discounts flights for volunteers, but they ended up having more expensive flights than Expedia and Travelocity. In the end, I booked through Travelocity for the best price- $627.
Just a little over 2 months until I depart! I can't wait! :-)
